The Odyssey Oracle finds its structure in the everpresent Monomyth: The Hero’s Journey. And there’s a reason why the hero’s journey structure is so universal - it taps into collective human experiences and archetypes, where we can connect with the hero and their struggles.

The hero embarking on their transformative journey: facing challenges and overcoming obstacles, and finding growth and triumph in the end, reflects our own experiences.

We are the Hero of our own story. And The Odyssey Oracle is both the journey and the teacher for each Hero that works with it.

We see our Hero's on screen, in our books and we project them onto celebrities or athletes. We see ourselves in them. Because we are all the Hero.

We know we all have similar journeys. We all have stepped into new worlds. We all have denied an invitation to something that feels too challenging or scary. We've had a mentor that has supported us through the trials of the new world. We've met a trickster. We've been betrayed. We've triumphed.

The Odyssey is a reflection of our individual and collective lived experiences - though colored differently. While the map and formula is universal, each person’s fulfillment of the journey creates sacred fables that play a fundamental and memorable role in our personal evolution. These experiences and myths can be used as a talisman to serve as a compass for the unknown and to help make sense of our lives as well as the world around us.
