As with the poison path, the snake represents inner growth and kundalini energy. The snake has always been associated with the creation biblical story where the snake tricked humans into a lie. In contrast, the witches path has a positive representation of a snake; one of wisdom and hidden knowledge. 

Mugwort is associated with the moon and enchanted spellwork and dreamworld, and there is also belladonna and datura that the snake is coiling around. The poison plants are Saturnian, and represent the history of flying ointments, spirit communication, and the mystique of the power to heal or harm.
